The Bible and Critical Theory (Journal)

B&CT

The Bible and Critical Theory is an exploratory and innovative online scholarly journal for biblical studies, published by the Bible and Critical Theory Seminar. The journal explores the intersections between critical theory, understood in the broad sense, and biblical studies. It publishes peer-reviewed articles that investigate the contributions from critical theory to biblical studies, and contributions from biblical studies to critical theory. The journal has an active series of book reviews, which are published as they are ready.

By the term “Critical theory” is meant “feminism, post-structuralism, queer theory, postcolonial criticism, Marxist and post-Marxist thought, narrative criticism, reader response approaches, psychoanalysis and so on” – Roland Boer and Julie Kelso, “What is The Bible and Critical Theory?” The Bible and Critical Theory 3 no. 3 (2007).

The Bible and Critical Theory also boasts an extensive collection of book reviews on the intersection of the Bible and Critical Theory.

The journal is edited by Roland Boer (Renmin University of China, and University of Newcastle, Australia) and Julie Kelso (Bond University, Australia).

Associated with the journal are two annual conferences, The Bible and Critical Theory Seminar (Australia and New Zealand) and The Bible, Critical Theory, and Reception Conference (United Kingdom).

  1. Greetings,

I was wondering whether you accept articles for publication. If so, please send me some information on how to proceed. Thanks.

    Sincerely,
